09 Jul Scottish Philharmonic Big Band: Afternoon in The Glen
For the first time in many, many years, the bandstand in Pittencrieff Park will ring out with the sound of live music as the brilliant The Scottish Philharmonic Big Band rolls into town to give a one off Gala Performance for Outwith. Expect a rousing programme of crowd pleasing tunes and some stunning vocal performances.
The Scottish Philharmonic Orchestra was formed in 2006, as a vehicle to provide top class orchestral performance with the lowest possible overheads. The players are all regulars with the other national companies and can be assembled at any strength, from the smallest ensemble to a full symphony of over 100 players. In its grandest form, it has been conducted on several occasions by Sir Karl Jenkins, raising money for Teenage Cancer Trust.
The Bandstand is located to the rear of the Glen Pavilion. Refreshments will be available to purchase.
