Giacomo @ Giacomos

An art project based on Café Giacomo, Dunfermline. The café has remained relatively unchanged since it opened in 1958 – still with original booth seating and tables. During 2017, artist Ally Wallace undertook a short residency there – to gather information and record details of his surroundings through drawing and video, as a means of conveying something about the character of the place. The resulting work – drawings, linocuts and a short film – will be shown in the café during Outwith Festival.

Jonathan Wilson: Rare Birds @ PJ MOLLOY'S | Scotland | United Kingdom

Jonathan Wilson had a busy 2017, producing Father John Misty‘s grammy nominated Pure Comedy and touring arenas around the globe as a guitarist and vocalist for Pink Floyd legend Roger Waters (for whom he also contributed to the lauded Is This The Life We Really Want? album.) Wilson also saw widespread acclaim heaped on Karen Elson’s sophomore LP Double Roses, which he recorded with her in Los Angeles in 2016.

But it’s not looking like Wilson is going to get much of a rest in 2018 either, as he’ll be continuing on with the worldwide Waters tour and is set to release his own new solo album Rare Birds in the spring.  The highly anticipated long player – which features backing vocals from Lana Del Rey, Josh Tillman, fellow Roger Waters bandmates Lucius and an extraordinary musical gift from otherworldly Brian Eno collaborator Laraaji – will be released through Bella Union worldwide

Pecha Kucha: Outwith Special @ Dunfermline Carnegie Libraries & Galleries

Pecha Kucha was devised in Tokyo and is a networking event for creative people.  Throughout Scotland, many  ‘creative hubs’ have been delivering Pecha Kucha events and have found them to be an extremely successful way of promoting the fantastic activities taking place within their local creative industry sectors.

During a Pecha Kucha evening, a number of presenters will make an accelerator pitch for their business or idea by showing 20 slides for 20 seconds each, thus the title ‘Pecha Kucha 20×20’. Presentations are designed to be informative and entertaining.

Pecha Kucha Dunfermline has been organised as part of the ‘Create in Fife’ programme.  Create in Fife comes under the banner of Fife Cultural Trust and supports the creative and cultural sector by providing networking  opportunities such as this
